Caterina Albert (1869-1966), known by the literary pseudonym Víctor Català, wrote poetry and theatre since she was a young girl. It was in the field of fiction, however, where she exerted a decisive influence in the early twentieth century. Her stories, which she called Rural Dramas (title of her first collection), are intensely original and full ascribed into Modernism, a style she will keep through her whole literary production.
