A gypsy Holocaust survivor, Santiago Cortés, returns to his native Valencia in 1947 after being imprisoned in Dachau. However, his journey has nothing to do with nostalgia: he is part of an underground squad whose mission is to kill a Nazi who has been given refuge by the Franco regime. On his mission he will join forces with former Republican fighters, two British SIS agents, a Soviet spy and an expert forger who may not be as keen to forget the past as he makes out. Together they will face a society that seems condemned to committing the same errors which unleashed their insaciable thirst for justice.
Apart from the pessimistic but lucid reflection on human naturewhich runs throughout the novel, readers will also enjoy the exhilarating pace and elaborate plots that have always been hallmarks of the author’s work.
