Provisionalitat contains two tales. The first, which shares its title with the volume, is the story of a man who faces the sudden illness of his wife when she is admitted into hospital. In the days spent awaiting a diagnosis, while nurses buzz around performing tests, the uncertainty of the future and the legacy of the past lead the protagonist, a man already in his seventies, to face up to family members and possibly (without knowing it) to himself. The second title, “El cotxe”, is the narrative of a weekend adventure at the beginning of summer, shared by two university students: a portrait of the force that desire holds over us when we are twenty years old, and the traps it sets for us to fall into.
Two masterpieces of short stories which portray temporality: the acceptance of others and oneself in old age, and desire at twenty years old.
