Love and death are twinned, almost as if they are brothers. Ostensibly, they lie far apart, but they converge.
The Street Below is a story of love and friendship, of death and heartbreak that takes place in the city of Valencia and in the Vall de Gallinera.
In this valley, dense with history but scarce of inhabitants, loneliness kills. There we find Joan, a high school teacher, and Sara, a psychologist who works the land. There too, we find Carles, an editor trying to escape the pain of caring for a foster child with drug and delinquency problems.
Following the course of the Gallinera, a river that has almost vanished, like life in the valley, all three will share a path along which the past and all that which they’ve been unable to avoid will flow.
The Street Below is the story of a father, but it is also the story of his son, the city in which they live, the city in which they dream of living, and all the characters they find in their path.
The author intertwines different stories and creates this intimate and poweful novel.
