Marina Subirats (Barcelona, 1943), professor emeritus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, is a sociologist and public manager. She was director of the Institut de la Dona del Ministeri d'Afers Socials (Women’s Institute of the Ministry of Social Affairs) and councilor for education at the Barcelona City Council. As a sociologist she specializes in the fields of sociology of education and sociology of women, subjects on which she has written numerous books. In 2006 she was awarded the Creu Sant Jordi.
